Janet Falkenthal was a regular clothing consignor, dropping off items at a local shop she used to frequent in CT.  She went from consignor to consignment shopper in 1981 when something caught her eye, and she was hooked.  She turned her passion into a business and in the summer of 1984 The Fashion Exchange was born in a small retail space in Newtown, CT. 

The business steadily grew. In 1995, she moved to a bigger space, the famous pink house at 109 South Main Street in Newtown - - a 1758 vintage Saltbox -- that provides the perfect backdrop, adding to the charm and fun of The Fashion Exchange shopping experience.
